Businessman Hamis Kiggundu Gives Market Traders' Sacco Shs100M

It’s about four months since vendors were evicted from Park Yard Market in downtown Kampala to pave way for the development of Nakivubo Stadium. The eviction saw many traders lose their property. The development was being funded by City Tycoon HamisKiggundu. The wealthy businessman donated 100 million shillings to the evicted Traders Savings and Credit Cooperatives Society to help improve their livelihood. The handover of bundles of cash was witnessed by the Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority Jennifer Musisi. “And we are very happy to get to know that in addition to the other things they are doing for the traders, they were able to make a donation of 100 million shillings into the SACCO.” Said the Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority.

HamisKiggundu urged the traders to work hard to attain their goals. “That’s why I have come out and I have said let me pass by despite my other problems; they know am currently constructing Nakivubo Stadium which is very hectic and requires substantial capital but I have decided to put 100 million shillings aid, give it to these vendors so that they can also improve their lives as well as their businesses.” Said, HamisKiggundu.

“HamisKiggundu’s donation has given us hope that we’ll start getting bigger loans.” “Whoever is capable of refunding the loan is free to borrow as long as they use it for development projects.” Several traders who were forced out Nakivubo Park Yard Market still had no place to operate. It was not clear whether they would be able to access the money.
